He will be sadly missed by his sons Juan Rodríguez of Guayma and Antonio Rodríguez of Youngstown his daughters, Ilumunada Rodríguez of Guayma and Elva Rodríguez of Lorain brother Rafaél Rodríguez of Lorain many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He loved entertaining his family and friends with his sharp wit and humor. He enjoyed horse racing and playing the lottery.
Juan worked in Guayma in various grocery stores as a clerk. He lived there all of his life until moving here to live with his daughter in February 2005. He was born July 26, 1924, in Guayma, Puerto Rico. Juan Rodríguez-Vicente, 84 of Lorain, OH, died Tuesday, December 30, 2008, in his daughter’s home in Lorain following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Sixto Sr., in 1986, a son, Sixto Jr., parents, Evaristo and Juana García, a brother, Julio García and sisters, Matilde Garayua and Ana Sotomayor. María is survived by her son, José Antonio, of Lorain, her daughters, Ana Julia (José) Diaz and Mary Jane Landry, both of Florida, 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and her sister, Francisca García, of Puerto Rico. She loved singing in the church choir, along with playing BINGO, cooking, dancing, and arranging flowers. She was a member of Sacred Heart Chapel, where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the Cursillo Movement and auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. as a seamstress for 17 years, before retiring in 1983. María Berrios (née García), age 85, of New Port Richey, Fla., formerly of Lorain, OH, died on Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Heather Hill Nursing Home, under the care of Hernando-Pasco Hospice, in Florida. She was born on September 16, 1923, in Comerio, Puerto Rico, moving to Lorain in 1949, where she has lived most of her life until moving to Florida in 2000. The family thanks the staff of Northwest Ohio Hospice for their loving care. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Connie Gibson Carrillo, who died in 1985. She will be missed by her close cousin, Jim (Jackie) Wheeler and her beloved Cockapoodle, Cinnamon Sugar. 7 step-children and many grand and great grandchildren also survive. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Carlos and children, Mike (Vickie) Johnson, Brian (Shannon) Johnson and Kathleen Johnson and grandchildren, Ann Marie and Zita and great-grand-children, Dryden, Austin, Logan, and Laura. Club (Spanish American Organization) and a member of the Country Music Association in the 1960s. She was a member of and the 1st woman elected President of Latins United/Latinos Unidos as well as being vice-president of the S.A.O. Betty received her Associates Degree from the University of Toledo and retired in 2003 from NODC where she had worked 19 years. For almost 20 years in the 1950s and 60s she trained horses in the Lansing area with her mentor, Eloreen Barnes.
